Bayshore Tea Party—The Front Desk

"A Grassroots Organization Working Towards A More Responsible Government"

 Who We Are

We are a group of concerned citizens, freely and voluntarily associated.  We are Republicans, Independents, Libertarians, Conservatives, Democrats, and others, brought together by the firm belief that our country is headed for disaster and that recovery requires that we return to the core principles upon which this country was founded, principles rooted in the unchanging realities of human nature, politics, economics and morality, principles that are immutable and not subject to the fashions and designs of social engineers and utopians.

 Our Principles
  • We hold that all persons are endowed by their Creator with certain inalienable rights, among them life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.
  • We hold that to secure these rights government is a necessary servant but a dangerous master.
  • We reject equally the tyranny of the majority and of the minority, whether over thought, speech, or deed, in any exercise of our rights as individuals.
  • We hold that the Constitution of the United States of America, defined by its own words, embodying the considered experience and wisdom of centuries, is the surest and most just foundation for the preservation of these rights.
  • We hold that America's greatness resides in the goodness of her citizens, and her goodness in the greatness of her citizens, and that every act of government that diminishes the individual diminishes America.

 Membership

Basic membership in the Bayshore Tea Party Group is free.  Sustaining Members pay modest dues.  (We accept additional contributions gladly.)  See our Membership Page for complete information.

 What We Do
General Meetings

The Bayshore Tea Party Group meets every other Tuesday at 7:00 PM at our Red Bank Headquarters.  (See our Calendar for exact dates.)  Our featured speakers have included local government officials, candidates for local and state office and for Congress, and speakers addressing issues of likely concern to our members and our movement.

Special Meetings and Classes

From time to time the BTPG hosts a meeting, class, or series of classes on issues related to our mission and principles.  These are usually held in our Headquarters.  Watch this website and our Calendar for announcements.

Roadside Rallies

(Almost) every Sunday, the BTPG holds a roadside rally from about 10:30 AM until about noon.  The location varies, but most weeks we can be found in front of the Middletown Post Office on Rte 35 North, north of the Kings Highway/Harmony Road intersection.  (Watch the Calendar for details.)  Come out and give us a wave!  We are constantly making new signs, so it's worth coming often.  Or become a member and join us there.  This is a high-visibility activity!

Political Campaigns

We attempt to vet all candidates for office in races covering our area.  From time to time we find a race important enough, or a candidate good enough, that we get involved directly.  Working for a campaign is strictly a volunteer activity and participating is never a condition for membership at any level.  (Campaign work does make use of the office, utilities, and other resources paid for by member dues and contributions.)

For the Community, Veterans, and Active Military

We honor those who serve and have served our country, and we seek to revive the fading tradition of voluntary service to the community.  This means answering the call, doing, and leading, as the need dictates, not with taxes levied upon others, but with our own limited means and with what may be freely given to us.  With the help of our members, we regularly participate in efforts which aid members of the Armed Forces.  We have also joined in local community efforts.  If you would like to help us, if you would like our help (including announcements) or if you would like to make an appeal to our members (consistent with our principles and mission) please get in touch with us.

Website

We strive to keep this website interesting and informative to members and non-members alike.  We want it to be attractive, useful, and current enough that readers will visit it often to find new content.  This makes it an ongoing activity which we hope will attract volunteers—citizen journalists—who can help our cause from their desks and WiFi cafes.  (Dan Rather notwithstanding, working in pajamas is not required!)

 Our Three Different Names

The Bayshore Tea Party Group consists of two legal entities, The Dynamic Begins, a New Jersey 501(c)(4) corporation D/B/A ("doing business as") The Bayshore Tea Party Group and The Bayshore Tea Party Foundation, a New Jersey Corporation that has filed for 501(c)(3) status.

Why three names and two corporations?  The Foundation is to be a not-for-profit entity and as such may not engage in activities related to political campaigns.  Its purpose is education on civic and related matters.  The Dynamic Begins was incorporated when the Tea Party Movement was still young and the name was chosen to give it a clear legal identity.  Its activities include political campaign activity consistent with its purposes.

D/B/A is a common arrangement in the business world.  For example, the rights to J.R.R. Tolkien's best known and most profitable works are held by the Saul Zaentz Corporation, which does business as Middle-Earth Enterprises (Formerly Tolkien Enterprises).
