OWL-EYE OPINION: CALL HIS BLUFF, GOP

The bill combines a debt ceiling increase with the procedural caps and the Balanced Budget Amendment (Full text: http://www.govtrack.us/congress/billtext.xpd?bill=h112-2560).

Ed Morrissey concludes that the GOP has won by forcing Obama to declare that he will not sign a bill that includes the Balanced Budget Amendment.  Actually, he thinks it goes beyond that, and I'm inclined to agree with him.  Not that it will do much good, but I'm going to call Pallone's office and tell him I want him to support it.

WH: Obama's Non-Response On Libya Due To "Scheduling Issue"

Earlier this week the White House Press Secretary was asked, why hasn’t the president given a response to the situation in Libya? And the White House’s answer was... there was a scheduling issue and the president couldn’t give a response.  

So let me get this straight. The Libyan government is murdering hundreds of its own civilians! They are blowing up oil and gas supply lines! The Middle East is on fire! Egypt is on the edge of a knife! Iranian warships are off the coast of Israel!  

But the president can’t give a response because he has a scheduling issue! Is the White House out of their mind? It’s not just bad for the US reputation but is dangerous for national security and for world stability!
