Bayshore, Tea Party Patriots Nationwide Say DO NOT Raise Debt Ceiling

Do NOT Increase the Debt Ceiling

Cut = Yes
Cap = Yes
Balance = Yes
Increase Debt Ceiling = NO!

The supporters and local coordinators of Tea Party Patriots met for over 3 hours on Sunday evening evaluating the Cut, Cap, and Balance Act and whether or not we should change our position on no debt increase.  After examining all possible angles we decided to remain firm and continue to say no debt increase

While we are in support of cutting spending now, capping the percentage of government spending as it relates to the gross domestic product, and balancing the budget, we do not support those items in exchange for a debt ceiling increase. America cannot afford to continue to spend more money than it brings in.  America cannot afford to borrow 44 cents of every dollar it spends.

Be prepared for the liberal ruling elite in Congress and the White House to up their attacks. They will say we are unreasonable, we do not understand the reality, and we are stubborn in our position.  We expect the attacks and will continue to stand firm in the face of them.

National Coordinators Diana Reimer and Jenny Beth Martin are headed to DC.  As they learn more about any potential deal, dates set for votes, and other information you might find useful, they will work with the TPP support to update Tea Party Patriots across the country with the latest information.  Watch for updates on the TPP and Bayshore's Facebook pages, and more importantly watch for questions so that we can gather your input. The national Tea Party Patriots coordinators (Diana Reimer and Jenny Beth Martin) will continue to accurately reflect our desires to those who ask on Capitol Hill.

Together we will stand firm against a debt ceiling increase, and in support of our core values. Together we will return this country to citizen-driven government.

Enough is enough.

America deserves better.

Thanks for your continued support!!

"The only chance"

That's what the man says:

The map could still be challenged in court by a number of parties. The state’s Republican Party chairman, Assemblyman Jay Webber, has not ruled out a legal challenge and told NJ Spotlight, an online news service, that his party would review its options and “decide pretty quickly” if it would challenge the Democratic plan.

Murray says that the only chance for the map to be overturned would be to base a challenge on a map drawn by the Bayshore Tea Party, which leaves county boundaries largely intact. “It is a sound map in its own way,” says Murray. “That may be the only shot there is to overturn this map in court.” However, he believes that the principles on which the map chosen by the commission was laid out are consistent with the principles applied to every New Jersey legislative map in the last four decades and finds it hard to envision a scenario in which the court would overturn the map on state or federal constitutional grounds.

Not sure how we missed this when it came out, the article is now 10 days old.

Stay tuned for updates soon...

PRESS RELEASE: The People's Map creates intraparty battles on both sides

Incumbent battles are plentiful under BTPG’s “The People’s Map”

While politicians draw lines to save their jobs the People’s Map creates genuine competition

April 1, 2011

Middletown, NJ –Several articles have come out recently displaying the hysterics surrounding the possibility of a handful of legislators who may lose their jobs as a result of the Apportionment Commission’s final map. Meanwhile, an analysis of “The People’s Map” illustrates nicely how genuine competition between and among parties and incumbents can be easily achieved by simply drawing district lines according to the Constitution.

Below are some of the intra-party battles created as a result of the non-gerrymandered map produced by the Bayshore Tea Party Group:

There are 11 additional districts in which incumbents of the same party would be pitted against one another. This is what representative democracy should look like.

•    District 4: Sen. Steve Sweeney (D) v. Sen. Fred Madden (D)
•    District 13: Sen. Joe Kyrillos (R) v. Sen. Jenifer Beck (R)
•    District 21: Sen. Barbara Buono (D) v. Sen. Bob Smith (D)
•    District 27: Sen. Anthony R. Bucco (R) v. Sen. Joseph Pennacchio (R)
•    District 31: Sen. Brian Stack (D) v. Sen. Nicholas Sacco (D)
•    District 9: Asm. Ronald Dancer v. Asw. Diane Gove v. Asm. Brian Rumpf

While politicians holed up in lavish accommodations at one of New Brunswick’s finest hotels wheel and deal for their own personal benefit, voters are left with the scraps from a rancid political meal. “The People’s Map” changes that dynamic and forces long-term incumbents, many of whom have benefited for a decade from our previously Gerrymandered districts, to defend their records with their constituents and actually campaign for reelection.

It is a uniquely American ideal that no man should be entitled to the benefit of another’s labor. This ideal is no more applicable than in the world of electoral politics.

Upon discovering the information, primary map-maker and Bayshore Tea Party Group Redistricting Committee Chairman Sean Spinello stated:

“One thing that struck me with all the attempts at manipulating the matchups and wanting easy victories was that it sounded like old time boxing promoters…except with less integrity.”

The Bayshore Tea Party Group was heartened recently by NJ Apportionment Commission Co-Chairman and Assemblyman John Wisniewski's statement citing the importance of adhering to the NJ Constitution with regard to the legislative map drawing, as reported in The Star-Ledger on March 28.

As per Chairman Wisniewski's admonition, we expect that the Commission will issue a map fully compliant with law and the New Jersey Constitution, such as "The People's Map."

Democrats write open letter to other Democrats objecting to losing their jobs

Who knew!

The pushback by state Sens. Barbara Buono (D-Middlesex) and Joseph Vitale (D-Middlesex) to a Democratic proposal that would lump the two together continued Thursday, as 100 Democrats released an open letter to Democratic State Chairman John Wisniewski trashing the idea.

“This is a direct attack on the progressive wing of the Democratic Party to remove the first female Senate Majority Leader,” read the letter. “We urge you to reconsider this action and to not move forward with a map pitting Senators Buono and Vitale against each other.”

Among the signers of the letter: Newark Councilman Ronald C. Rice, state Senate candidate Jeff Gardner and Garden State Equality Chairman Steven Goldstein.

Wisniewski, an assemblyman from Middlesex County, leads the Democrats’ redistrting team that on Tuesday submitted a proposed map that would put Vitale's hometown of Woodbridge and Buono's hometown of Metuchen in the same district along iwth Edison , Vitale said yesterday. The idea, which had previously been floated by Hispanic advocacy groups to slightly increase their clout in Trenton, would put Wisniewski in a district running from Perth Amboy to New Brunswick with no sitting senators, which Vitale said was a power play for Wisniewski to move to the upper house.

It's going to be one thing or another every day until the gerrymandered map is forced upon the voters of New Jersey on Sunday. One group fighting another for control with zero consideration given to the Constitution or the voters.

And all the while millions of people are screaming at the top of their lungs for the Commission to just draw the map fairly and let the chips fall where they may.

It's high time we did just that.

It's high time we adopted "The People's Map"

Bayshore Tea Party Group Releases "The People's Map"

CORRECTION: A big thank you to Mike in the comments for pointing out the error in the legend on our map. The incorrect map (which will remain available HERE) stated that LD-25 was composed of "Morris / Union".

The correct county delineation for LD-25 is "Morris/Warren". We have posted the correct map below as a JPG and it is available for download in PDF below.

We apologize for the error.

While appreciating Patrick Murray's swing at making a "Constitutional Map", the BTPG Redistricting Committee is proud to introduce the only truly Constitutional Map released thus far in New Jersey's decennial foray into map-making:

Job Half Done at Brookdale

APP:

In response to the well-deserved flak the Brookdale Community College Board of Trustees took for its proposed 8.2 percent tuition hike for the coming academic year and the recent disclosure of the lavish terms of college President Peter Burnham's employment contract, the board convened a special meeting Saturday.

By meeting's end, the board had found $1.2 million in cuts from its nearly $100 million budget — enough to completely nullify the tuition hike.

Question: Why didn't Burnham and the trustees find a way to keep tuition flat in the first place? The obvious answer: Because they are out of touch.

In a statement issued Saturday by the trustees, board chairman Howard Birdsall, who we believe should resign his position, said they would continue to look for ways to further trim the budget.

Maybe the entire Board of Trustees and Peter Burnham should resign.

See here for BTPG's exclusive coverage on this matter.

Call your Monmouth County Freeholders and tell them you want Peter Burnham and the Trustees held accountable for their actions:

From the Ground Up

Some of my old friends in the blogosphere, the fine gents at Conservative Hideout, have a slick post up today that I believe hits the nail on the head with respect to what it's going to take to fix this thing.

The title of their post, "Where the Battle is Won", refers to State Governments as opposed to the Federal Leviathan. If I may, I'd like to suggest that it's also won on the streets of our municipalities through local tea party groups, such as the one we have here in the Bayshore.

We're looking for folks who want to actually make a difference, as the Bayshore Tea Party Group does day in and day out.

If you're interested, fill out the form and come to a meeting (every other Tuesday at 7). I promise you, there is work to be done:

The fact is that this year’s proposal is an increase on the 2010 budget (there wasn’t a 2011 budget).  It is interesting to see where this budget increased and decreased.  Let’s take a look:

Health and Human Services          +3.1%                   $1.11 trillion                        $9,727/household

Social Security                                     +8.5%                  $808 billion                          $7,112/household

Defense-Military                                  +0.7%                $294 billion                          $2,595/household

Treas.- Interest on Debt                    +14.5%             $474 billion                          $4,173/household

Agriculture                                            +21.3%                $104 billion                          $917/household

Transportation                                     +4%                       $70 billion                            $620/household

Education                                                +56%                     $31 billion                            $276/household

Energy                                                       +38%                     $12 billion                            $104/household

Veterans Affairs                                     -2%                        $70 billion                            $620/household

Military Reitrement                             -5.2%                     $48 billion                            $426/household

Labor                                                         -51%                     $117 billion                           $1,035/household

Does that look like the budget planning of a government that is serious about cutting spending and balancing a budget?

Let’s put this into a personal perspective.  Let’s say that you were running a business with America’s fiscal attributes.  Let’s say that this businesses annual revenue is $500,000 this year, but has started the year off with a budget to spend $750,000.  At the end of this single fiscal year the business is going to add $250,000 dollars to their debt.  Combine that with the fact that he is already $3,000,000 in debt and you can see this business is literally worthless.  It’s okay though, because they are going to make a serious cut to the previous year’s $750,000 budget – they’re going to cut it down by $10,000!  Now imagine that you were trying to run a business with this budget plan and you were selling these proposals to your investors.  Unfortunately, we the people are the investors to such a plan.

The only conclusion we can draw is that the federal government is incompetent when it comes to fiscal responsibility.  Even when we turn up at the polls and flip the national ratios the end result is comparable to a bucket in the ocean.  We put too much faith into too few who are too far away.  November did bring us hope though…

In November Republicans gained control of 19 state legislatures and picked up more than 650 seats nationally.  10 states threw democrats out of their executive seats and replaced them with republicans.  More importantly than the R’s and D’s, many of these individuals have taken office with the intent to cut state spending and loosen the grip the fed has on their state.  More important than the proverbial political promise is action; and we’re finally seeing something.

Read the whole thing.

Happy Freedom Day!

Sometimes it might not feel like it anymore.

What is "Freedom Day" you ask?

National Freedom Day is an observance in the United States that honors the signing of a resolution that proposed the 13th amendment of the nation's constitution on February 1, 1865. Abraham Lincoln, who was the president at the time, signed the resolution to outlaw slavery. This anniversary is annually observed on February 1.

A fellow New Jersey blogger from up North, Chris Wysocki from Wybog, sums it up nicely:

It is up to us to impart the love of liberty to our children. Government schools won't do that; they teach conformity and obeisance to the state. Why? Because being a sheep is easier than choosing to chart one's own course. And so the erosion of our freedom continues. To counter it we must stand firm, resolute in the face of progressive pressure, because in the end the claimed benevolence of our masters will inevitably devolve into tyranny.

Every day ought to be National Freedom Day. Our freedom is too precious to be trotted out for merely one day a year, exhibited like a curiosity before being tucked away for safekeeping. Use it, or lose it, and remember above all that Freedom isn't free.

Freedom is not Free.

Join the Bayshore Tea Party today and help us pay for it.
