Don't Hate Me Because I'm Rich - the story of Richard Guy

I was thinking back to when I was a kid and sometimes things were kind of of hard. Money was not always easy to come by for my dad, a contractor. I was happy, don't get me wrong. Mom and dad never let us know that anything was wrong. Mom hummed away while making something she concocted with chop meat and vegetables. Dad knew he had no work the next day, but managed to rough house with us and whistle around the house.

I never remember being hungry or sad about not having a lot of money.

I also never remember my dad feeling that it was anyone's responsibility but his own to feed and clothe his family or pay his bills.

He always managed to get on his feet and make things better. He worked very hard. He worked in the freezing cold or in 100 degree heat because when there was work, you took it.

I grew up in Brooklyn where no one really commented much about money. If there was a poor kid on the block, you took him home for dinner and fed him. Boy, moms concoctions really tasted good to that kid.

I may not have grown up rich financially, but I grew up rich indeed with morals and principles taught to me by parents.

I miss my dad. He died way too young at 59. He is the reason for my tenacity and drive to follow through with what I think is right.

As the only girl in my family, he taught me to be tough. I remember my first driving lesson. He purposely went to sleep so I would (sorta) be on my own.

Now, I am not the rich one that I titled this Babble about. I live a middle class life, many times worried about two sons in college... my husband keeping his job. He has two jobs, actually. He takes care of my sons, me and my mom who lives with us, two Pomeranians and a rat. He makes a legal, honest living and we live within our means. Well, mostly anyway!

Anyway, let me get to my point of the Babble.

I know this fellow named Richard Guy. He is very wealthy. He earned it through hard work and sacrifice. He has a beautiful house which really helped the Real Estate business that sold it to him. Not to mention the builder, the landscaper.....etc.

Wow, his house is full of beautiful furniture which in turn was really good for the carpet store, tile store, furniture store, etc...etc...etc...

Just think about all the stuff in that house! Several big screen tv's, hot tubs....wow.

His pool is amazing. The pool company loves people like him. So does the young gentleman that cleans the pool for him. He talks about this to the landscaper that comes to take care of his gardens. They always say hi to the dry cleaners that delivers the tons of beautiful suits that Rich Guy bought in a men's clothing store...the one that employs about a hundred people. The cleaning staff takes the dry cleaning and puts it away in this great closet that some carpenter made for him.

Rich Guy isn't home today, because he went out on his boat. The one he bought from the boat salesman down the road. Rich Guys boat had some issues the other day, so he brought it down to the guy who repairs boats. He employs about 10 people. He did have to order some parts. They came from another small business. The guys who owns that business isn't as rich, but very thankful to Rich Guy for giving him business....after all, what would this guy do without Rich Guy?

Now I know this other guy who is an investor. He had Rich Guy as a client. He likes Rich Guy too because he invests lots of money into the system.

Geez, can you believe that recently, Rich Guy went out and bought a jet? I mean really...does he need a jet? Wait...what? You ask if he paid for it? Well, yeah sure he did. He worked hard and bought a jet so he can get from place to place quickly. Probably to go on vacation in Martha's Vineyard. He gives lots of business to some local restaurants, souvenir shops, and the beautiful hotel he stays in. The one that employs hundreds of people.

He loves getting pampered too. Massages, manicures, theater, jewelry, gadgets, widgets and whatnots! And my oh my, he owns so many cars!

He really helped out the car dealers, detailers, mechanics, Insurance companies.....whew.

So, this Rich Guy is a piece of work isn't he? What nerve to have all that when the rest of us don't.

YA GET THE POINT?????   sigh
